Born in Khatirchi district of Samarkand region of Uzbekistan. He graduated from the pediatric faculty of the Tashkent State Medical Institute (1968). 1970-1973 - target graduate student, 1973-1976 - Assistant, 1977-1980 - attending physician, 1980-1983 - doctoral student. He defended his thesis on "Treatment of fractures of the distal humerus in children (stale and chronic fractures)" (Rostov-on-Don, 1973); doctoral thesis on the topic: "Treatment of acute destructive pneumonia in children" on the specialized council of the Research Institute of Pediatrics of the Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow, 1983). From 1985 - Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery SamSMI. In 1987 - awarded the academic title of professor.

A. Shamsiev organized and headed the Research Center of Pediatric Surgery in the city of Samarkand, which became a source of manpower for practical public health. Currently, this is a multi-specialty clinical research center providing highly skilled specialized surgical care for children's population of Samarkand and five neighboring areas of Uzbekistan. Prof. A. Shamsiev perform complex operations with heart disease, peptic ulcer 12 duodenal ulcer, bronchiectasis, on the organs of the urogenital system, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, abdominal and thoracic cavity. For the first time in the city of Samarkand had heart surgery, bronchoscopy and bronchography applied. Under his leadership, the center introduced the practice of endoscopic methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary tract and abdominal organs. Highly talented, well-educated scholar, an outstanding clinician, a brilliant surgeon and an exceptionally gifted teacher, he created his children's surgical school.

The scientific activity of  A. Shamsiev multifaceted. He and his students have participated and presented papers at numerous symposiums, conferences and congresses in different countries (Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, Kazakhstan, and others.). Author of over 800 scientific papers, including 10 monographs, 2 books, 2 collections of lectures for students, 117 guidelines, 44 rationalization proposals, 45 officially registered inventions. Published textbooks for students on  medical institutes  "Surgery for children" in the Uzbek language, "Surgical Diseases of Childhood," "Outpatient surgery in children" and "Minor surgery of childhood", as well as with Russian scientists - textbooks "Lectures on pediatric surgery", "Standard diagnostic algorithms and practical skills in pediatric surgery"and a collection of lectures on "Selected Topics of pediatric surgery."Under his leadership, prepared 20 candidates and 5 doctors. His scientific works have made a significant contribution to the development of abdominal and thoracic surgery, pediatric urology.

In 2008 and 2010 passed internship at the Medical University of Graz (Austria) in pediatric surgery and interventional radiology. For merits in the development of friendly relations and partnership between universities - recognized as an honorary professor at the Medical University of Graz.

Member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the Association of Pediatric Surgeons of Russia, the European Association of Pediatric Surgeons, the Royal Institution of Great Britain Health, Joint Divisional Council of the Republican Specialized Surgery Center named after academician. B. Vahidova.

Shamsiev - editor in chief of "Problems of Biology and Medicine" (Samarkand), member of the Editorial Board of the journals "Pediatric Surgery" (Russia), "Russian Gazette Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care" (Russia), "Uzbekiston tibbiyot jurnali" "Pediatrics", "Uzbekiston xirurgiyasi", "Journal of Theoretical and Clinical Medicine", "Infection, immunity and pharmacology", "Bulletin of the doctor" and others ..

Since 2005 A. Shamsiev rector ofSamSMI. In 2005 - on his initiative at the Institute were first discovered departments of nursing and medical pedagogy,  in 2009 - Dentistry.

In the Institute was established the Information Resource Center (IRC) to fund more than 300,000 textbooks, organized library with the most modern electronic versions of textbooks. A multimedia studio, equipped with the most modern information and video systems, allowing to create educational cartoon, slide presentations, electronic versions of textbooks. Students of CHO regularly take part in the National Student Conference on Pediatric Surgery, held in different cities of Russia. Expanded international relations institute, signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation with the Medical University of Graz (Austria), Russian State Medical University (Moscow), Medical University of Sofia (Bulgaria), Medical Academy, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk State Medical University.

Azamat Muhitdinovich substantially strengthen the educational, logistical and scientific base of the Institute, raising its prestige and authority to the level of one of the best universities in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Under his leadership developed a program for monitoring and continuous monitoring of the work to improve the reproductive health of women and to ensure a healthy baby in the country.

 

He was awarded the "For Healthy Generation" 2 degrees, a medal named after Academician Alexander Vishnevsky, the badge "Excellent Health Care".
